What is the Security Guard Licence ?
The licence is issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and is valid for 3 years.
SIA Security Guard course is suitable for any individual who is looking to work as a Security Guard. With the valid SIA Security Guard licence, holders can work in variety of different environment. For example, retail, static guarding, manned guarding and key holding and can earn up to £2,500 per month.
Door Supervisors licence allows you to also carry out other activates, such as security guard and keyholders.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an SIA Door Supervisor Licence, you must be 18 years of age, have the right to work in the UK. You must have passed Emergency First Aid at Work and the Door Supervisor Course. Upon completion you will also have to pass identity and criminal background checks conducted by the SIA.
Cost of the Security Guard Licence
The SIA Security Guard Licence costs £190 and the licence is valid for three years from the date it has been issued. The fees is non-refundable once paid and covers the cost of processing your application. For further information, please refer to the Official SIA Website.
Badge Renewal
Renewing your Security Guard is straightforward. Upon renewal you will require the refreshers training that you will need to pass the ‘Up-Skilling For Security Guard’ award before you can renew your SIA Licence.
The licence renewing process can be started 4 months prior to your badge expiring date and the new licence date will only commence after your current licence has expired. The application cost is £190 and is non-refundable.
Security Guard Examination
The course consists of 3 multiple choice exams and a practical exam. These are held on the last day and will test your knowledge of the content taught during the during course.
Licensing Integration
For some licences, the SIA permits individuals who meet one licensing criterion to carry out related licensable activities. Individuals who have a Security Officer Licence cannot work as Door Supervisor and if you hold an Close Protection Licence, the SIA allows you to use your licence to work as a Door Supervisor and Security Officer.
