What is the Door Supervisor (Top- Up)
The Security Guard (Top-Up) course is based on the relevant SIA specification for learning and qualifications and is supported by Skills for Security, the standards setting body for the security industry and the SIA, who regulate the private security industry.
First Aid Requirements for an SIA Top-Up Course:
Candidates should be qualified in Emergency First Aid at work. However, if you’re yet to complete an EFAW course, you can take it as part of your booked course package.
Entry Requirements
To register for this qualification, learners must be aged 18 and over.
Learners will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate* that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It is an SIA requirement that training centres must confirm that each learner is sufficiently qualified in First Aid or Emergency First Aid and also produce a valid ACT Awareness Certificate. This must happen BEFORE the learner attends this course.
Assessment
This qualification is assessed by multiple-choice examinations.

- Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry
- Principles of Minimizing Personal Risk for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry
Prior to the course start date, you will be required to complete the following distance learning activities:
- Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (self-study 2hrs),
- Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry (self-study 2hrs),
